“Golven” by Anna Simonetta & Jeremy Lim is the fourth release from the upcoming X(2) album by enjou music (formerly Little Symphony Records).
Here’s what this project is all about:
X2 is where collaboration meets curiosity. This project is about exploring a singular and simple concept from multiple perspectives. Twenty-two artists were commissioned to write and record a song that would then be given to a soundscape architect for exploration. Neither the artist nor the soundscape architect were aware of who they were paired with until the song was complete. This process resulted in 22 tracks by 41 individuals spanning Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Curaçao, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mauritius, The Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam.
So I became one of the featured artists. I recorded a piano concept which was given to sound architect Jeremy Lim (Canada). Some words from Jeremy about this collaboration:
“We were asked to create music around a sense of flow and curiosity — an entrancing, ethereal piece. To me, that sounds like water (which is a common thread in a lot of my music). Anna Simonetta’s flowing performance helped cement that thinking; her choice of a non-standard time signature added a layer of complexity to the arrangement process, which I think helped fulfill the curiosity component. Golven ended up being an exploration of wave-like motifs, stirred and swirled through both of our lenses.”
